Few things are more comforting than a great pub lunch.

Whether it’s a perfectly cooked Sunday roast, a towering burger, fish and chips, or a homemade pie fresh from the oven, the great British pub has always been about bringing people together over good food and good company.

When Punch Pubs wanted to showcase the quality and care that goes into the dishes served across their pubs, they asked us to create a series of films that would do more than simply display the menu. They wanted audiences to appreciate the craft behind every plate and remind people why the local pub remains one of Britain’s favourite places to eat.

The result was a collection of social-first films that celebrate honest cooking, fresh ingredients and the timeless charm of the great British pub.

Food That Speaks for Itself

Great food deserves to be filmed properly.

Our production focused on capturing every dish exactly as it left the kitchen, using carefully controlled lighting and cinematic camera movement to highlight the textures, colours and freshness of each meal.

We leaned into real-time cooking moments wherever possible. Steam rising from freshly plated dishes, sauces being poured, knives cutting through perfectly cooked food and finishing garnishes being added all helped tell the story behind the meal.

Rather than relying on overly stylised visuals, we wanted the food to feel authentic, generous and comforting—exactly what you’d expect when sitting down in your favourite pub.

Adding a Handcrafted Touch

To complement the live-action footage, we introduced a series of rustic, hand-drawn animations throughout each film.

Sketch-style illustrations and animated graphic elements appeared alongside the food, highlighting ingredients, adding playful flourishes and reinforcing the handcrafted feel of the campaign.

The animations echoed the personality of traditional pub chalkboards and handwritten specials menus, giving the films a warm, welcoming character that felt completely at home within the Punch Pubs brand.

Instead of competing with the footage, these illustrated moments enhanced it, adding another layer of storytelling while maintaining a natural, relaxed feel.

Crafted for Social

Every film was designed specifically for social media, where capturing attention quickly is essential.

Fast-paced edits, satisfying close-ups and subtle motion graphics ensured each video delivered maximum appetite appeal within seconds, encouraging viewers to stop scrolling and start thinking about their next pub visit.

Multiple edits and aspect ratios allowed the content to work seamlessly across Facebook, Instagram and other digital platforms, giving Punch Pubs a flexible collection of assets that could be used throughout the campaign.

While the food was undoubtedly the star, the campaign was really about celebrating everything that makes a pub meal special.

It’s the comfort of familiar favourites. It’s the quality ingredients. It’s the care that goes into every plate leaving the kitchen.

By focusing on the preparation as much as the finished dishes, we created content that feels genuine rather than overly polished, reminding viewers that great pub food is about craftsmanship as much as flavour.

By blending cinematic food cinematography with charming hand-drawn animation, we produced a campaign that feels warm, welcoming and unmistakably British. It captures the pride, care and attention that goes into every meal, while reminding audiences why nothing quite beats gathering around the table for a proper pub lunch.
