In 2023, Ben & Jerrys dropped a flavour so irresistible, we practically moved into the studio. Enter: Spectacu-love. We got elbow-deep in cookie dough, biscuits, and ice cream, crafting dreamy close-ups. And in the edit, we elevated the shots with that classic, vibrant Ben & Jerrys animation.

The result? A TVC that swept across Europe, from cinema screens to living rooms, with a quick detour through your social feeds. Were still dreaming about it.

A Scoop of Pure Indulgence

In 2023, Ben & Jerry’s introduced a flavour that wasn’t just delicious—it was downright dreamy. Meet Spectacu-love: a love letter to all things indulgent, packed with Speculoo biscuits, caramelised sauce, and creamy goodness. From the very first concept conversation, we knew this wasn’t just a product launch. This was an invitation to create something that looked every bit as spectacular as the name suggested.

Our mission? To make every second of screen time feel like a treat, blending mouth-watering product shots with Ben & Jerry’s signature animation style for a campaign that felt bold, joyful, and unmistakably on-brand.

Turning a Flavour into a Visual Feast

To bring Spectacu-love to life, the goal was clear: capture every ripple, every drizzle, every melt in glorious detail. We shot ultra-close macro footage of each component—golden biscuit pieces, rich gooey caramelised sauce and those creamy swirls—using precision lighting and high-speed cameras to make every texture pop. We wanted viewers to feel like they could reach into the screen and grab a spoonful.

But we didn’t stop at just beautiful product photography. This is Ben & Jerry’s, after all—playfulness is part of their DNA. So, we layered the footage with their famous vibrant animations, giving the ad that unmistakable Ben & Jerry’s flair. Bold splashes of colour, playful text, and quirky animated elements danced across the screen, turning a simple product shot into a full-blown sensory experience.

Challenges We Scooped Up Along the Way

Shooting ice cream is never easy. It melts. It drips. It refuses to hold that perfect, fresh-from-the-freezer look for more than a few minutes under hot studio lights. And when your brief calls for macro close-ups, every tiny imperfection shows.

To overcome this, our team worked with precision planning and quick execution. We prepped multiple tubs in rotation so there was always a pristine hero ready to go. Lighting was carefully adjusted to keep things cool without compromising on texture. And between takes, our crew moved fast—resetting, re-freezing, and perfecting every swirl (and maybe mopping up any excess with a spoon…)
