When Beatstream launched their app, we knew it needed a soundtrack as bold as the concept itself. Cue bone-shaking live gigs and a cast of characters who lose themselves in the music. The app means you never miss out on live performances again, and we had a blast showing what that feels like.
Turning Ordinary Moments into Live-Gig Magic
When Beatstream launched their new app, they wanted an ad that captured the thrill of live music—even when you’re miles from the stage. The app allows fans to stream gigs live from their phones, meaning you’ll never have to miss your favourite band again. Our challenge? Show viewers that Beatstream doesn’t just deliver a video—it delivers the feeling of being there.
Four Locations, One Day, Endless Energy
To bring that idea to life, we built a story that moves through four settings: a bedroom, a kitchen and a bus – as well as the gig itself. These are the places where people might be when a gig is happening—the mundane environments we all know. The concept was simple but powerful: with Beatstream, even the most ordinary surroundings can transform into the front row of a bone-shaking concert.
We shot everything in a single day, which meant careful planning and a lot of creative problem-solving. Each location had its own vibe, but they were tied together by a shared sense of anticipation and connection. Whether a character making tea in the kitchen or scrolling their phone on a bus, the moment they tapped the Beatstream app, the world around them erupted into gig-night energy.
Creating a Live Gig Without the Venue
The illusion of a live concert was key. We intercut footage of a live band from a real concert with shots involving our characters. We didn’t have an arena or a stage on the shoot day—but we did have ingenuity. To replicate that electrifying gig atmosphere, we crammed the frame with extras and even drafted some of our crew members to double as enthusiastic concertgoers. By layering in inventive lighting, pulsing colours, and tight camera angles, we made a small space feel like the heart of a packed venue.
In the bus sequence, subtle hand-held camera work and carefully timed bumps sold the illusion of movement, even while juggling the challenges of filming on an actual moving vehicle. It was a technical juggling act, but the payoff was worth it—the result feels dynamic and alive, just like a real gig.
Casting Characters Who Feel Real
We chose three different actors to anchor the ad, each representing a different slice of Beatstream’s audience. Their reactions—wide-eyed wonder, uncontrollable dancing, and pure joy—carried the emotional weight of the video. Instead of showing the gigs themselves in detail, we let the characters’ faces and body language tell the story: Beatstream transports you, no matter where you are.
Editing With Rhythm and Impact
In post-production, we leaned into a music-video style edit. Sharp cuts matched the beat, and quick transitions echoed the pulse of a live show. The soundtrack—bold and bass-heavy—was chosen to feel like the kind of track you’d hear echoing through a stadium. To enhance the transformation effect, we used clever sound design: the ambient noise of each mundane setting fades as the music swells, emphasising the moment Beatstream takes over.

Ultimately, this ad wasn’t just about demonstrating an app feature. It was about recreating a universal human experience: the goosebumps, the energy, the shared connection of live music. Beatstream gives users access to that feeling anywhere—on the couch, in the kitchen, on a bus commute. By blending relatable everyday moments with the sensory rush of a gig, we made sure viewers didn’t just see what Beatstream offers—they felt it.
